First edition of this Carnegie Medal-winning author’s first book, issued 9 years before it was published in the US. Susan and her brother, Colin, find themselves caught up in a frightening struggle between the magician Cadellin and the terrible Morrigan because the bracelet Susan wears is the key to an enchanted cave filled with sleeping knights.  Garner weaves elements from Norse mythology, English folklore and Welsh legends to create a spellbinding story.  The Moon of Gomrath was the sequel.
