Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Author: Lewis Carroll

Illustrator: Kuniyoshi Kaneko

CARROLL, Lewis. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Illustrated by Kuniyoshi Kaneko. [Milan]: Olivetti [1974]. 4to, 122pp. Pink cloth with spine stamped in white and color pictorial label affixed to front. Pictorial endpapers; color frontispiece and 12 half-tone plates. Spine ends and corners a tad rubbed, faint soiling on verso of last leaf (blank), slight evidence of rear endpapers having adhered to each other at top edge and having been separated a tad roughly. Nonetheless, a very clean, bright copy.

Limited edition. A haunting vision of Carroll’s Alice featuring stark full-page illustrations from Japanese painter, illustrator, and photographer Kuniyoshi Kaneko. In Kaneko’s art, Alice is at turns petulant, dour, and coquettish, while the White Rabbit is surprisingly dapper! This limited edition of the English-language version of Kaneko’s Wonderland is scarce!
