NESBIT, E[dith]. The Wouldbegoods. Being the Further Adventures of the Treasure Seekers. With Illustrations by C. Walter Hodges. NY: Coward-McCann (ca. 1940). 8vo, 384pp. Green boards stamped in yellow. Numerous b&w illustrations. Spine ends and corners lightly rubbed, small decoration in green marker at top corner of front free endpaper, else an internally clean, bright copy in original pictorial dust jacket (some light chipping and wear at folds and edges, lightly sunned and slightly soiled).
Ca. 1940 printing. The second novel about E. Nesbit’s adventurous Bastable children. Nesbit’s loveable family gets into hilarious and imaginative escapades during their summer break of “banishment” at the Moat House in the British countryside. Once again, Nesbit uses the “anonymous” narration of Oswald to delightful effect!
