Upper and lower edge of covers lightly sunned, spine ends a tad rubbed, else an internally clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (light soiling and rubbing to right edge of rear cover, some slight wear to edges, medal affixed). Inscribed by the author/artist, Robert McCloskey.

First edition. 1958 Caldecott Medal Winner! Robert McCloskey’s stunningly gorgeous tale of a summer on an island in Maine. From the hypnotic spell of the summer rains, to the excitement of sailing, to the sudden terror of a hurricane, this vibrantly illustrated picture book is a true classic! This copy was apparently inscribed by McCloskey to friends or close acquaintances as he signed it “Bob McCloskey” as opposed to his usual signature of “Robert McCloskey.”
