First edition. 2019 Caldecott Honor Book! Around the neighborhood, something smells very good. It’s Omu’s delicious stew! After cooking all day, there’s a knock at her door. She opens it up to find the little boy from down the hall asking for a bowl. It just smells so good. Omu gladly offers him some and he thanks her. But as the smell of Omu’s soup carries throughout the neighborhood, it draws more and more visitors to Omu’s door. A police officer, Mr. Hot Dog Vendor, a bus driver, and a dancer are among the many who come asking for a taste of Omu’s delicious stew. Omu is happy to share with everyone, but when the end of the day comes, there’s none left for her. What’s she going to eat now? Then there’s another knock at the door – and it’s all the people she’s fed with food to share. Told with expressive cut-paper designs which bring Omu’s vibrant neighborhood to life.
