Pictorial map front endpapers; color plate frontispiece and numerous b&w illustrations throughout. Spine ends and corners rubbed, edges less so, slight stain to rear cloth, edges of sheets a tad foxed, endpapers a bit foxed, else an internally clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (edges and folds lightly worn, 4” tear at bottom of rear flap, spine and rear panels sunned, slight foxing). With a bookplate signed by the artist, Pauline Baynes, laid in!
First edition in a stated “Second Impression” dust jacket from 1957. The second novel published in C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia. The Pevensie siblings travel back to Narnia to help a prince denied his rightful throne as he gathers an army in a desperate attempt to rid his land of a false king. But in the end, it is a battle of honor between two men alone that will decide the fate of an entire world.
