First edition. The first book in Fitzgerald’s 8-book series following the misadventures of Tom Dennis Fitzgerald, a.k.a. “The Great Brain,” as told by his impressionable younger brother. Whether it's saving the kids at school, or helping out Peg-leg Andy, or Basil, the new kid at school, the Great Brain always manages to come out on top – and line his pockets in the process. The basis for the 1978 film starring Jimmy Osmond.
