CARROLL, Lewis. Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-glass. With illustrations by Robert Högfeldt. Stockholm: Jan Förlag [1945]. 8vo, 222pp. Yellow quarter-cloth stamped in red with red pictorial boards printed in yellow and black; top edge stained red. Decorative endpapers; 10 color plates and numerous b&w illustrations. Corners a bit rubbed, lower edge less so, else a clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (a few closed tears and some light edge wear, spine panel sunned, 1 ½” scratch to rear panel).

First Högfeldt-illustrated edition in English. A wonderfully illustrated edition of Lewis Carroll’s classic novels by the Swedish painter, illustrator, and cartoonist, Gustav Robert Högfeldt. The playful watercolors and humorous line illustrations perfectly capture the whimsy of Carroll’s two tales of Wonderland in Hogfeldt’s distinct imagery.
