Alice in Wonderland
Author: Alice Gerstenberg
GERSTENBERG, Alice. Alice in Wonderland. A dramatization of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass.” Chicago: A.C. McClurg & Co, 1915. 8vo, [x] 133pp. Red cloth decoratively stamped in gilt and brown. Pictorial endpapers; 6 color plates and numerous two-color illustrations. Some dampstaining to cloth around edges and spine, spine ends and lower corners a bit rubbed, else an internally clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (dampstained around edges and spine, foxing to front panel, light chipping and wear across upper edge, slightly soiled). Scarce in dust jacket.
First edition. A stage adaptation of Carroll’s beloved tales of Wonderland by the American playwright, actress and activist perhaps best known for her experimental, feminist dramas and her involvement with the Little Theatre Movement in Chicago. The six uncredited color plates are truly wonderful!
