Color pictorial endpapers; color illustrations on nearly every page. Spine ends lightly rubbed, lower corners minutely so, small bump at top corner of front cover, roughly half the pages have a crease in the upper corner, else a clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (3” closed tear at bottom of front panel, light chipping at spine ends, less so at corners, rear panel scuffed, lower portion of rear flap clipped, medal not affixed).
First edition. 1944 Caldecott Medal Winner! A wise tale of a little princess who wanted the moon and got it. The combination of Thurber’s elegant fairy tale with Slobodkin’s vibrant illustrations has made this book a favorite for over 75 years! Scarce.
