LAWSON, Robert. At That Time. NY: The Viking Press, 1947. 8vo, 126pp. Gray boards stamped in navy. 7 full-page and 2 smaller b&w illustrations. Spine ends lightly rubbed, corners a tad so, with upper front corner very slightly bumped, endpapers a tad yellowed, else a clean, tight copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (some edge wear). Inscribed by the author/artist, Newbery and Caldecott Medalist Robert Lawson “To the Duffae” – a playful pluralization of the family’s name, which was Duffus (as can be seen on the return address label and owner’s name written on the front fixed endpaper).
First edition. A collection of amusing and quizzical memories from Robert Lawson’s early life, wonderfully captured in his expressive illustrations. This copy is inscribed “Rob Lawson” which is very unusual, as it indicates it was inscribed to good friends, as he always signed his books, “Robert” not “Rob.”
