Artwork
Willy Pogany (1882-1955) was a Hungarian-born artist who established himself as an illustrator in London before coming to the United States in 1914, where his work diversified into portraitrure, mural painting, and set design. Pogany's watercolors for Abraham Howard's translation of Goethe's Faust, published in 1908, date from his time in London, and were featured in 30 full-color plates throughout the book. This piece served as the frontispiece for the book.
