A Sunday comic strip from 1909 by the celebrated illustrator of the Oz books, John R. Neill. The strip was written by William Bradford and ran from March 7, 1909 until February 27, 1910. With simple Mother Goose style rhymes and Neill’s whimsical illustrations, this was a charming comic strip showcasing Neill’s talents. Those familiar with his drawings for The Road to Oz [1909] will recognize that Nip and Tuck, as well as their dog, Dingleberry, could be doppelgangers for Trot, Button Bright, and Toto as they appear in The Road to Oz. This sheet comes from the first page of The Pittsburg Dispatch’s comic section and is dated Sunday, June 6, 1909.
