Lennon is excited and apprehensive about starting high school. Then her sister, a senior, drops a bombshell: she is pregnant. Their Palestinian Canadian parents are devastated, and Lennon finds herself under even more pressure to be a "good girl” – a role she has always played well. But she finds herself nursing a crush on someone her parents would definitely not approve of—an older white boy named John.

As the pair are drawn together and pulled apart throughout her four years of high school, she wrestles with feelings of shame and yearning, trying to both please her parents and herself.

Sylvie has taken a summer job at a remote prairie preserve in the middle of the Great Plains. It’s a much-needed escape. She longs to be free of the intrusive, obsessive thoughts that are her constant burden.

She finds herself drawn to a stunning shepherd boy and can’t stop herself from going to him at night, even though she’s been warned to keep away. During the day, she develops a friendship with another boy, a strange-looking and strangely gentle coworker named Jack. She begins to gradually unravel the mysteries of this place.

But those mysteries include a powerful curse, and when she uncovers the truth of it, she becomes recklessly determined to break it.

Willa Childs doesn't know why she's at Dorsey House. The tragic accident that banished her to the mysterious reformatory is lost in the recesses of her memory. But when mysterious ongoings threaten the future of Horizon, Rochelle realizes that it means more to her than a simple resume-booster. It’s up to her and the other employees to save the day and maybe, just maybe, find love along the way.
