YA Stories to Get Swept Up In!

Mockumentaries, moral missions, and more await you in this virtual YA event!

Tune in for:

  • The Ping-Pong Queen of Chinatown by ANDREW YANG. After cynically starting a film club to bulk up his college resume, Felix Ma meets Cassie Chow and invites her to star in his short film. But what started out as a mockumentary soon morphs into a serious drama about the emotional scars that parents leave on their kids, and Cassie balks at opening her wounds for the camera. Is academic achievement worth losing his closest friend?

  • No Going Back by PATRICK FLORES-SCOTT. Released early from the juvenile detention center he just served a year and a half at for a crime he didn't directly commit, it's Friday and Antonio is set on making amends to his mom and his lifelong best friend, Maya. He can't miss his first meeting with his parole officer Monday morning, but a lot can happen between Friday and Monday... especially when the odds are against you.

  • The Maid and the Crocodile by JORDAN IFUEKO. Small Sade needs a job — preferably as a maid. But before she can be hired, she accidentally binds herself to a powerful being known only as the Crocodile. While she shares her secret with him — that she's a Curse Eater, able to alter people’s fates by cleaning their houses — she evades him for as long as she can. But she deserves more than running from him and her secret-filled past, and she knows everyone else does, too.
