Double Graphic Novel Launch Event

These middle grade graphic novel tales will take you from the competitive environment of academic clubs to the whimsical world of filmmaking. We're delighted to host MAYA HENDERSON, author-illustrator of Brainbow, and SOFIA WARREN, author-illustrator of Film Nerds. 

Brainbow follows eleven-year-old Rosie. Most kids have five senses—but Rosie has six. She can sense colors, and she thought everyone else could, too. After the first meeting of the math league, Rosie wonders why nobody seems to know that every letter, number, and song has a special hue of their own. The league's first tournament is only a few weeks away, and no one trusts the girl with “brain colors”. Can Rosie find the courage to embrace her unique gift? 

Film Nerds stars best friends Ami and Ivy. They couldn’t be more different, but they share a love of filmmaking, and spend their free time working on a sci-fi epic. But as they go into sixth grade at at a new school, they're separated. Ivy quickly finds new friends, while Ami struggles to adapt. When a talent show is announced, Ami is certain their film will show everyone how cool they are. Ivy says she doesn't want anyone to see it, but Ami is sure everyone will love it—and then everything will turn around for her socially. What could possibly go wrong?
