London: Frederick Warne, 1905. 12mo, 52pp. Slate blue cloth decoratively stamped in white with color pictorial label affixed to the front. 10 color plates and numerous b&w illustrations. Small bookplates from Mildred Greenhill and H. Bradley Martin, both significant collectors in their day. Spine ends and edges a bit rubbed, spine lightly sunned, clean tear at center of spine, light scuffing to front board, endpapers aged, else a clean, bright copy.
First edition. The 17th book in Beatrix Potter’s beloved series. A charming classic from the author of The Tale of Peter Rabbit about the complications that arise when a dog and a cat attempt to hold a tea party. This particular copy being from the H. Bradley Martin collection that was sold by Sotheby’s in 1989.
