First Sendak-illustrated edition. Maurice Sendak designed a number of sets and costumes for the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Christmas production of the Nutcracker, producing some truly brilliant work.  In this edition, featuring a new translation by Ralph Manheim, Sendak enlarged upon his remarkable set design to majestically capture this fantastic tale. Sendak created a number of new pieces for this book to fully flesh out Hoffman’s magical story, creating an edition of this beloved classic that has captured the imagination of generations of fans. One of Sendak’s most elaborately illustrated books.
