JACKSON, Kathryn. The Golden Book Circus. Pictures by Alice and Martin Provensen. NY: Simon & Schuster [1951]. 4to, [28]pp. Color pictorial boards with fuzzy flocking applied to the front around title and color picture. Color pictorial endpapers; color illustration on every page, many of which have fuzzy flocking applied to the pictures of the circus animals. Spine ends and corners a bit worn else a clean, bright copy in the original color pictorial dust jacket with fuzzy flocking (some tears, chips, and creasing around edges, especially to lower front panel). With a bookplate signed by the artists, Caldecott Medalists Alice and Martin Provensen, laid in.

First edition, in remarkably clean condition and without any of the usual transference to opposing pages one usually finds in books with flocking. A charming, early, touch-and-feel book from the Caldecott Medal-winning illustrators of The Glorious Flight. One of a number of books the author-artist team created for the Golden book series, including The Color Kittens, and The Fuzzy Duckling, this is a lovely interactive picture book guiding readers through the wonders of the circus!
