ABOUT WIN
Since its founding to provide emergency shelter to four unhoused women and their children, Win has grown into the largest provider of shelter and supportive housing for families with children in New York City. Win offers transitional shelter housing and permanent supportive housing that’s coupled with programs and services developed to support long-term housing stability. All of Win’s services are guided by its mission- to transform the lives of New York City families experiencing homelessness by providing holistic solutions of safe housing, critical services, and ground-breaking programs they need to succeed on their own – so these families can regain their independence and their children can look forward to a brighter future.
ABOUT THE WIN LITERACY INITIATIVE
The Win Literacy Initiative, conceived by Win Partners, seeks to get kids of all ages excited about books! Books are windows & mirrors, they are entertainment, escape, education…and most importantly, books are fun! We will roll out the initiative as a pilot project at three different shelter sites: Audre Lorde, Rosa Parks, and Shirley Chisholm. Each site will be outfitted with a Little Free Library box. Every child at these sites will receive some age-appropriate books that they can exchange for new titles via the Little Free Library when they are ready. We are looking for donations to fund the initial purchase to outfit the three sites with enough books to create a healthy selection of titles.
