Pictorial endpapers; 16 mounted color plates and numerous smaller black-and-white illustrations. Upper corners and spine ends a tad rubbed, front hinge split in three spots (probably where staples lie unseen), cloth a tad soiled, endpapers a tad aged, else a clean, bright copy.

First and only edition. The seventh of the annual Swedish collection of fairy tales, titled ”Among Gnomes and Trolls” in English, and one of only 8 editions illustrated entirely by John Bauer before his untimely death in a shipwreck in 1918. The second volume to include Bauer’s art as hand-mounted color plates.
