As the sun rises, Father Hawk stretches his wings out wide and ruffles his feathers as he prepares for the day ahead – a day filled with hunting to provide food for his family. Perching on the top of a telephone pole, he watches and waits. His sharp eyes spot a chipmunk. He dives, talons flashing, but misses. He sees a group of sparrows next, but once again, comes up empty. As the day stretches out and night approaches, he’s running out of time. Will he be able to provide for his family tonight?
Your young readers will be awed by the beauty and power of this bird of prey as it soars through the sky, dipping and diving, hunting for its family’s next meal. Ages 3-6. 40pp.
