The Very Impatient Caterpillar
Author: Ross Burach

One day when everyone else starts climbing up the tree, one little caterpillar wonders what’s going on. Is he missing out on something? When he asks, they simply reply that they’re going to metamorphosize. Meta-what-now? They’re going to turn into butterflies. The caterpillar wants to be a butterfly, too, so he shimmies up the tree after the others.
The only trouble is, no one told him how long the whole process takes. And since this is one impatient caterpillar, he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to last long enough inside his chrysalis to transform. Told with tongue-in-cheek humor and in homage to Eric Carle’s iconic Very Hungry Caterpillar. Your young ones will be laughing at this caterpillar’s hilarious impatience even as they’re charmed by the ins-and-outs of how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.
