Child of the Dream (A Memoir of 1963)

As Sharon Robinson, daughter of baseball legend Jackie Robinson, turns 13-years-old, she finds herself living through one the most tumultuous and important years of the Civil Rights movement in America. While her family hosts fundraisers for Martin Luther King Jr at their Connecticut home, she also goes backstage during her first concert at the Apollo Theater and joins the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom with her parents and brother. All the while, however, Sharon feels out of place as she tries to find her place in her nearly all-white school and the struggle for civil rights.
