Natalie Temple's plan was to spend her last summer before college in the usual way: waking up far too early to exercise with her mom; working at the family diner; interning at the local newspaper; and secretly recording her true-crime podcast, Killing Time, with her best friend, Katie. Maybe some long, lazy days at the beach thrown in there too, and a few wild nights partying in the abandoned mansions on the edge of town.
