BARRIE, J[ames] M[atthew]. Peter Pan. Or the Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. The Plays of J.M. Barrie. London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1928. 12mo, xxxiv 160pp. Blue cloth with labels affixed to front and spine. Endpapers lightly discolored probably due to binder’s glue, upper edge a tad foxed, else a fine copy in original dust jacket (a few, almost imperceptible spots of soiling).
First edition. J.M. Barrie’s beloved character Peter Pan was first introduced to the world with the publication of The Little White Bird in 1902. The character was so successful that Barrie went on to create the play Peter Pan, which was first produced in 1904, and subsequently the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy. Barrie continued to work on the play until it was finally published in this edition (part of “The Uniform Edition of The Plays of J.M. Barrie”) for the first time.
