A copy of the March 11, 1966 edition of Life Magazine, with the scarce cover flap, featuring a cover story about Batman with a full color image of Adam West in his costume on the cover. The cover story details the cultural impact of the superhero, detailing a club in San Francisco styled after Wayne Manor, a new hairstyle invented in Detroit called “the Bat Cut,” and even the appearance of a Bat Signal being shone against the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco. The magazine also details the production of a new Superman musical, soon to begin its Broadway run, titled: It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman. A wonderful piece of ephemera celebrating the growing cultural influence of Batman just two months after the television shows debut and celebrating the ever growing popularity of both Batman and Superman in American culture from the definitive magazine of the day.
