Old & Rare
SEUSS, Dr. Green Eggs and Ham. NY: Beginner Books, 1960. 8vo, 62pp. Color pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers; color illustrations on every page. Upper and lower edges – particularly spine ends – a bit rubbed, else an internally clean, bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (light edgewear). The upper corner of the front free endpaper bears a neat inscription which reads “Merry Christmas Kathy, from Santa ’60.”
First edition in the second state dust jacket (NOTE: the Younger/Hirsch bibliography states “copies of probably earliest issue have the box on the front of the dust wrapper that has “50 Word Vocabulary” PASTED on the book and NOT PRINTED on the book” and our copy has it printed). In the 65 years since its publication, Green Eggs and Ham has delighted generations of readers with the terrific tongue twisters and quirky humor that made Dr. Seuss a household name! A wonderful copy of this early book from Seuss’ Beginner Books imprint and one of the bestselling children’s books of all time!
