TRUE STORIES – FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE!
True stories of three brave, powerful women who stood up and fought for justice! This incredible event is a panel of three non-fiction picture books - You're A Star, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Because Claudette, and Ida B. Wells: Voice of Truth - that tell the stories of three inspiring women from American history.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought to uphold the rights of women and minorities, first as a lawyer with the ACLU and then as the first Jewish woman to be a Supreme Court Justice;
Claudette Colvin helped spark the Montgomery bus boycotts when she was only a teenager, paving the way for one of the major triumphs of the Civil Rights movement;
And Ida B. Wells was a groundbreaking journalist, activist, educator, business woman, and feminist who helped found the NAACP and refused to let the United States ignore the ongoing oppression of Black Americans.
This panel will feature DEAN ROBBINS for You're A Star, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, TRACEY BAPTISTE and TONYA ENGEL for Because Claudette, and MICHELLE DUSTER (great-granddaughter of Ida B. Wells!) for Ida B. Wells: Voice of Truth.
Sunday January 16th at 1:00pm via Crowdcast.
