Virtual Picture Book Event!

We are delighted to share these exquisite picture books with you and your littlest reader — featuring tender moments as each author and artist invites us to take a step back, observe our natural world, and rejoice in a lifetime of play!

Please welcome How to Party Like a Snail, by author NASEEM HRAB! In this comic tale, you and your young reader will discover the not-so-secret delights of introverted gathering as Snail and his best friend Stump rock to the beat of their (joyfully quiet!) drum!

We are also proud to feature Feathers Together by author CARON LEWIS and illustrator CHARLES SANTOSOBest friends Malena and Klepetan are two birds of a feather who simply love adventures. But when Malena is injured, Klepetan migrates alone, and readers will follow the story of their changing friendship that rises above new flight patterns.

Next we have Brown is Beautiful by illustrator NOOR SOFI! Your favorite reader will adore this empowering story about a young Indian-American girl on the cusp of discovering everything gorgeous and brown that brings new life to her family's nature hike. Watch her treasure the beauty of leaves, the smiling faces her grandparents, and her new baby brother. too!

A Very Big Fall by author EMMY KASTNER delivers another great read-aloud obsession just in time for the season! In this picture book destined to become a fall classic, life as a leaf is pretty sweet. The weather is pleasant, the view is fine, and everything just feels fresh. But when things start to change, and trees begin to shudder, you and your young reader will follow one little leaf who wonders if the ground is the end — or simply a new beginning.

Finally, What Are Words, Really? by author ALEXI LUBOMIRSKI and illustrator CARLOS APONTE is a whimsical text that gently and playfully reminds all of us that words have power — the power to hurt or to heal, the power to make someone feel small or feel tall, and much more! You and your youngest reader will love their bright illustrations rich in pop-off-the-page color.

We invite you to find out more details about these wonderful picture books below! Be sure to read them all before this virtual weekend read-aloud.
