Meet Garth Nix!

GARTH NIX is back with another riveting middle grade title, We Do Not Welcome Our Ten-Year-Old Overlord! In this captivating tale, a strange object falls into the wrong hands and has the potential to destroy the world... even if those hands belong to a 10-year-old kid. There will be a fun game to play during the event, read more about it below! GARTH NIX will be in conversation with SCOTT WESTERFELD, author of Uglies. 

In We Do Not Welcome Our Ten-Year-Old Overlord, Kim's always lived in the shadow of his younger sister, Eila — which is not how it's supposed to be. Eila is a prodigy, and everyone talks about how smart she is... but, in Kim's eyes, she has no common sense. One day Kim and Eila are walking in the woods, and Eila finds an enigmatic, otherworldly object. Kim thinks it's bad news... but Eila begins to commune with it. Kim has every reason to be worried, because soon Eila is able to control the minds of everyone around her... in ways she says is the best for everyone. Kim's problem-solving must go into high gear. He has to not only save his sister, but save the world from his sister and the forces she’s unleashed.

About the game: Garth has drawn on a lifetime of playing D&D and other games to create a special audience collaboration fantasy roleplaying game called ESCAPE FROM THE ENCHANTER for this event, which he will run. This will take about 20 minutes of the program. Every audience member will receive immensely collectible (probably not actually) badly drawn (by Garth) character and item cards!

*One book may be brought from home to be signed for every book purchased at the event.
