Two Fiery Launches, One Great Event!

Join Books of Wonder to discover two exciting launches, sure to have you on the edge of your seat! Come check out I'd Rather Burn Than Bloom by SHANNON C.F. ROGERS, and I'm Not Here to Make Friends by ANDREW YANG!

In I'd Rather Burn Than Bloom by SHANNON C.F. ROGERS, a powerful coming-of-age YA novel about a Filipina-American teen who tries to figure out who she really is in the wake of her mother's death, we meet Marisol. She and her mom only ever fought without end. But when her mother dies suddenly, Marisol is left with no one to fight against, haunted by all the things that she both said and didn’t say. And when Marisol sleeps with her best friend's boyfriend — and then punches said best friend in the face — she's left alone, with nothing but a burning anger that she's determined to stoke. But then she reluctantly opens up to a new friendship, and to the possibility there’s something else on the other side of that anger — something more to who she is, and who she could be.

In I'm Not Here to Make Friends by ANDREW YANG, when two totally opposite girls are picked for Hotel California, a teen reality show with an all-Asian cast, they both jump at the opportunity. Sabine, one of few Asians at her high school in the Midwest, who hopes that she’ll finally have a chance to step into the spotlight, and Yoona, who just wants is to get away and escape her bad reputation. She sees it as an opportunity to chill out, make some friends, maybe even get a tan. But life on the show isn’t all sunshine and self-actualization. The producers want drama at all costs, even if it means pitting Sabine and Yoona against each other. With the season finale looming, can the girls figure out a peaceful way forward, before they lose control of their own narratives?

*One book may be brought from home to be signed for every book purchased at the event.

Tuesday, July 18th at 6PM EST at Our 17th St Store!
