This event features a great lineup of bright books full of big feelings! From a little girl learning how to manage ALL her emotions even the scary ones — to cake and pie battling it out to win the title of most loved dessert, to a little girl who discovers her grandmother's loving legacy through a beautiful dress, there's sure to be something to warm your heart! 

Join us for: 

  • Sometimes I Kaploom by RACHEL VAIL and illustrated by HYEWON YUMKatie Honors is a really brave kid. She can hold her tears in when it’s time to say goodbye to her mom at school. But sometimes Katie isn’t ready to say goodbye and doesn’t feel brave at all. When this happens, she Kaplooms! She refuses to let go of her mom, and everything is flurried as she begins to cry. Her emotions feel frightening. But her mother assures Katie that she can be both brave and sad, brave and crying, brave and scared.

  • Cake Vs. Pie by SUDIPTA BARDHAN-QUALLEN. A funny, pun-filled picture book about a battle between Cake and Pie to be the most coveted dessert. Filled with hilarious food battles and charming illustrations, join Cake and Pie in this fun-loving, laugh-out-loud picture book about the ultimate friendship rivalry and overcoming jealousy to realize being together is the Sweetest Thing.

  • Yellow Ao Dai by HANH BUI. A debut picture book about a little girl who connects to her Vietnamese heritage when she accidentally rips her late grandmother's áo dài.Naliah is excited to perform a traditional Vietnamese Fan Dance at her school’s International Day. When she finds that her special áo dài no longer fits right, she goes to her mom’s closet to find another. She puts on a pretty yellow one — only to accidentally rip it while practicing her dance!

*One book may be brought from home to be signed for every book purchased at the event.
