Tales of Mystery & Suspense!

Hold your breath and get ready for some intense reads! In this YA panel at Books of Wonder, we've invited two great authors to help us untangle the mysteries of their phenomenal thriller and suspense books. Featuring unlikely heroes who demand your attention, these books brave unknown forces and confront astonishing events, turn after turn.

From an eerie, haunted school to a psychiatric hospital, a cursed island, and an investigation of police brutalities, follow these teens that fight to define the truth against those who oppose them.

  • Bad Things Happen Here by REBECCA BARROW. Luca Laine Thomas' glitzy home island, Parris, would be heaven on earth  if it wasn't for a murderous curse. Now Luca's ready to investigate the island's dark secrets head-on, even if that may mean unearthing a terrible betrayal.
  • Katzenjammer by FRANCESCA ZAPPIA. In this surreal graphic novel Cat doesn’t remember why she's trapped in her school or why half of them — Cat included — are slowly transforming into monsters. Can she figure it out in time?
  • The Black Girls Left Standing by JULIANA GOODMAN. Beau has dreams of being an artist and leaving the Chicago projects she’s grown up in, but after her older sister, Katia, is killed by an off-duty police officer, Beau knows she must do everything she can to clear her sister's name.
