JANE YOLEN |
| |
|
Please join us on Monday evening,
September 15th as we welcome one of
the most celebrated children's book
authors of the past 30 years! Few
writers can approach the amazing
versatility of
JANE YOLEN -- author and
poet, she has written novels, short
stories, picture books, original
fairy tales, first readers, poetry
collections, tales in verse, and
much more! Among her most celebrated
titles are the Caldecott
Medal-winning
Owl Moon, the now-classic
holocaust novel
The Devil's Arithmetic, and
the best-selling
How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?
Winner of more awards than we could
possibly list,
JANE YOLEN will present her
new books for this fall,
Sea Queens: Women Pirates Around the
World, true stories of a
dozen female buccaneers from across
the globe;
Johnny Appleseed: The Legend and the
Truth, a picture book about
the legendary naturalist,
illustrated by Jim Burke;
Naming Liberty, a picture
book that tells the dual tale of a
young girl's journey from
mid-nineteenth century Russia to
America and young artist Frederic
Auguste Bartholdi's dream of
building a monument to Liberty, also
illustrated by Jim Burke; and
Mama's Kiss, a fun-filled
picture book in verse, illustrated
by Dan Baxter, about a little girl
who chases after the kiss her mother
blows her which accidentally goes
astray. Ms. Yolen rarely does
appearances in New York, so it is
with great pleasure that we welcome
her back after more than a decade
since her last appearance here.
Don't miss this chance to meet one
of the great children's book writers
of our time! All ages. 5 - 7pm |
